First-Year Initiative Assessment

This assessment is administered at the end of first-year courses and provides institutions with feedback regarding course outcomes.

Some areas addressed in our FYI assessment include:

  • Critical Thinking
  • Connections with Faculty
  • Connections with Peers
  • Increasing Out-of-Class Engagement
  • Knowledge of Campus Policies
  • Knowledge of Academic Services
  • Managing Time and Priorities

  • Sense of Belonging and Acceptance
  • Usefulness of Course Readings
  • Satisfaction with College/University
  • Course Included Engaging Pedagogy
  • Overall Course Effectiveness

The EBI analysis includes two types of reports. Upper Level Summary Reports which give the reader a high level view of the performance of their institution and Lower Level Detail Reports which dig into the data to pinpoint details.

Gender, ethnicity, and other demographic variables are included in the analysis so you can determine the degree to which intervention strategies may need to differ.
