MAP-Works® users will now be able to access both their MAP-Works data and Blackboard solutions simultaneously via a single login on Blackboard Learn.
This consolidation is a product of the new MAP-Works Building Blocks application for the Blackboard Learn platform, which will benefit the millions of students, faculty, and staff who use Blackboard Learn every day. Students can access their MAP-Works survey and reports, campus resources, and faculty and staff contacts while working in Blackboard Learn. For faculty and staff, accessing MAP-Works from Blackboard Learn puts course enrollment and other information right at their fingertips. Within the Blackboard Developers Network™, developers from schools, colleges, universities, associations, government organizations and companies are developing software and applications—Blackboard Building Blocks™—that extend and enhance Blackboard’s learning environment. With the new Blackboard Building Block that EBI has developed for MAP-Works, all institutions using Blackboard Learn will experience a seamless integration that makes using MAP-Works easier than ever.
Blackboard Building Blocks allows educators to incorporate specific add-on tools into the Blackboard Learn platform to address unique challenges. “The flexibility of Blackboard Building Blocks provides our clients with a more customized experience. From open source tools to Blackboard Partner supported extensions, clients can truly build the Blackboard system that’s right for them,” said Matthew Small, Blackboard Chief Business Officer. With hundreds of extensions from Blackboard Partners and client developers available on www.blackboardextensions.com, Blackboard Learn clients can customize unique solutions to enhance their institution’s teaching and learning.
“We’re excited to provide this new application to our clients. Now, with the Blackboard Building Blocks application, accessing MAP-Works will be easier for students, faculty, and staff than ever before,” said Joseph Pica, Ph.D., CEO of EBI and the designer of MAP-Works. The application will be offered free through the MAP-Works system for all schools, and the MAP-Works customer service team will provide installation and maintenance support.
The Blackboard Building Block for MAP-Works is just one more way that EBI is making it easier and more convenient every day to participate in MAP-Works.
About MAP-Works
MAP-Works is a comprehensive program that enables colleges and universities to improve student retention. Designed for both two-year and four-year institutions, MAP-Works offers a suite of management tools that capture and report on student satisfaction and other issues throughout the school year. It provides an “early warning system” for students who are at risk for a variety of reasons beyond academic difficulty. The program was developed over two decades by Ball State University and has been refined by EBI, which owns and administers the program nationwide.
