Housing and Residential Education's use of MAP-Works web-based software to foster student success and retention has captured the first-ever MAP-Works Excellence in Residence Life/Housing Award, given by the software's developer, Educational Benchmarking Inc.
HRE uses the web-based software to offer a survey that's administered to first-year students during the third week of the first semester. Resident assistants and hall directors use the information about academic and social integration to build intentional relationships with students, and provide targeted support.
The 11-member selection committee for the award, recruited by EBI from around the country, included faculty and staff who are experts in higher education, retention and first-year experience programs.
