The MAP-Works Difference
MAP-Works® Implementation Process
MAP-Works is a fully hosted web-based retention platform. There is no need to purchase additional software to implement this program. MAP-Works integrates with all ERP/SIS systems. The implementation of MAP-Works occurs in five key steps:
Data Collection: Student and institutional profile data are uploaded to the MAP-Works database. MAP-Works accepts data from any student information system in place on your campus.
Survey Administration: Two assessments in the first semester provide schools campuses with original initial data on a student’s risk status. The Transition Survey is conducted early in the term, and a Check-Up Survey is conducted during the last half of the term to update the student’s risk status. Students are measured on a variety of research-based factors, including their academic and social integration to the campus, entering skills and abilities, and expectations of their college experience. The average response rate for the transition survey was over 77% for participating institutions in the 2010–2011 academic year.
Make Connections: MAP-Works connects faculty/staff to students. Through the MAP-Works interface, student survey results are instantly available to faculty/staff such as academic advisors, first year seminar instructors, and residential life staff, so they may identify at-risk students. MAP-Works’ innovative design easy navigation, colorful dashboards, and one click drill-down technology efficiently provide faculty/staff the tools they need to record, manage, and track student interventions. MAP-Works also connects faculty/staff to one another to inform and coordinate student interventions.
Inform Students: Students gain immediate access to a customized, web-based report that identifies discrepancies between their expectations and the academic and social behaviors necessary to succeed. The system benchmarks individual results against the first-year cohort to better help students understand their own strengths and weaknesses. This interactive report aligns behaviors with outcomes, enhances self-awareness through social norming, and connects students with campus resources and support services.
Analyze Results to Improve Student Service: MAP-Works participants receive access to a sophisticated and robust analysis tool that provides the complete set of aggregated survey results, enables benchmarking against peer institutions, and generates customized reports. This powerful analysis allows administrators and key decision makers the invaluable data they need to create more successful and effective student interactions.
